Guidelines to attend any homam
As we prepare for this sacred Hindu ritual, we’d like to share some important guidelines to ensure the event’s success, as instructed by Guru Garu.
Please note the following:
We strictly follow the process set by SRR Peetham, including puja, food, and other aspects. We kindly request your cooperation and understanding in this matter.
- -Ladies should tie up or braid their hair
- -Ladies, please wear red sarees or kurtas with dupattas, as red is Goddess Durga’s favorite color. (must for Homam Participants)
- -Volunteers should be in saree and traditional dhoti or sharwani while helping for mandalas.
- -All the activities should be taken care with bhakti and should participate only after taking bath and traditional clothes.
- -Gents, please wear dhotis and uttareeyams.( must for homam participants) or at least kurta pajama.
- -Everyone should take a bath and attend the homam in traditional attire.
- -Those with Sootakam (immediate family members who have passed away within the last year) are not allowed to sit in the homam or offer homa dravyas, but they can witness and take the blessings.
- -Ladies are kindly requested not to attend the homam within 5 days of their monthly periods as a mark of respect for the divine energies invoked during the ceremony.
- -Rithviks, who are planning to chant during the homam, should use only the scripts provided by SRR Peetham. Aarti songs are exceptional.
- -Parents, please take care of your children and ensure they do not touch or disturb the Fire/Mandala/yantra setups, as they are sacred, sensitive, and hazardous.
- -Please refrain from consuming non-vegetarian food for at least 3 days before the homam as a mark of spiritual purification.
Please note that this is a time-consuming process, we kindly request your patience and understanding about timings. By following these guidelines, we’ll ensure a smooth and spiritually enriching experience for all participants. We’re looking forward to a wonderful event!!
