🌴 Mahima – History 🌴
The eighth form of Maa Durga is called ‘Mahagauri’. She is completely respected. Her honorable beauties resemble jasmine flowers, conch shells and moons. She is ashtavarsha prayam (ashtavarshabhavedgauri). The clothes and ornaments that she wears radiate bright lights. Chaturbhuja, Simhavahana. In one right hand is the abhayamudra and in the other hand is the trident. In one seventh hand it has a damaruka and in the other hand there is a flood seal. Her vision is peaceful in these mudras.
In the incarnation of Parvati, she performed severe penance to get Parameswara as her husband. Vriyeham Varadam Shambhum Naanyam Devam Maheshwaraat (Narada Pancharatra) is her vow. Tulsidasa mahakavi says that he was determined to mature the Lord Shiva.

Due to severe penance, her body is completely crushed. Pleased with her penance, Lord Shiva is pleased and purifies her body with Gangajal. As a result, she becomes white and radiates electric light. Since then, she has been known as ‘Mahagauri’.
According to another story, parameshwari, who was born black in colour… Parameswara, the lord, once jokingly calls him “Kali”. So she fought with Lord Shiva and performed severe penance on Brahma. She left that black body and became ‘Maha Gauri’ with a white complexion to match Lord Shiva.
The glory of mahagauri, the ashtama shakti, is described in the Sri Devi Bahugavatam. By her name, the mind runs towards good conduct. Sarvavidha Shubhankari – Mahagauri.
Mahagauri Upasana is performed vidyukta on the eighth day of Durga Navratri. Her energy is wonderful and fruitful.
All the impurities of the devotees who worship her will be cleansed. All their past sins will be completely destroyed. Even in the future, neither the sins nor the sorrows of misery will come to them. They will be purified in all respects and will receive the fruits of virtue in the form of immortality.
Meditating, remembering, worshipping, worshipping, worshipping, and so on, by worshipping Maa Mahagauri, etc., the devotees get all kinds of blessings. We should always meditate on her. By the grace of the Goddess, all will have transcendental siddhas. By concentrating the mind and serving the feet of this goddess with unshakable devotion, the sufferings of the seekers will disappear.
Due to the influence of her upasana, even impossible actions are possible. Therefore, it is the duty to take refuge in her feet all the time. Her glories are mentioned in the Puranas. She redirects the minds and businesses of the seekers from the wrong to the right path. It is very good that we have surrendered to her with undivided devotion.
