Meaning
I bow down to Matangi (Shyamala) Devi, who is black in complexion, wearing moon on her head, having three eyes, sitting on the throne of gems, wearing Pasam, Ankusam, bow, arrows in four hands, shining with gem ornaments, and playing the veena.
*Sri Raja Shyamala Ammavaru’s weapon description*
1. Sugarcane field (Ikshu Kodandam)
The sugarcane in the hands of Ammavaru is a sign of the mind. Just as sugarcane is sweet, it suggests that the heart should also be filled with devotion and sweet feelings. This is like a chicken in the hand of Lalitha Devi.
2. Flower arrows (punch arrows)
Mothers wear five types of flower arrows. These represent our five senses (sound, touch, form, juice, smell). This shows us that we need to control our senses and turn them to God.
3. Paasam (thadu)
Passam is the symbol of raga (love or affection). Amma used it to turn devotees towards her, to bind the ignorance in them and lead them on the path of wisdom.
4. Ankusam
Ankusham is a sign of anger. Just as the element used to control the elephant, the seller controls the anger and pride in us with this element.
5. Veena: Rajashyamala Ammavaru is called ‘Ganakala Priya’. Her hand holds a harp, symbolizing Nada Brahma and all arts.
6. Parrot: A parrot on the mother’s shoulder or hand. Parrot refers to reciting Vedas and Science repeatedly (knowledge instruction).
The blue cloud of shyamala is seen glowing in dark green or blue, that’s why she is called “shyamala”.

Deep Sadhakas
Mātangi/Rājaśyamala Devi is the feminine aspect of Lalita devi. She is the Ida nadi at left side of the body as chandra/lunar nadi.
She resonates with Madhyama among Para Paśyanti Madhyama Vykhari.
She is the one who bestows the intelligence to convert a sound available in thought form into an exact communication matching our thought. The process of matching a particular word with a particular thought. Thus she is the Goddess of intelligence.
Śyama meaning dark in colour. She is thought in dark greyish blue and green.
Her green in colour also resembles planet mercury or Budha graha who is shown with similar attributes like communication, logic, intelligence, learning ability etc.
She is the embodiment of the intelligible sound, all arts, intelligence, speech, vasikarana, ākarṣana, sammOhana and beyond.
The qualities attributed to her are only at superficial level taming down her power. Not to forget Rājaśyamala Devi is the mantri the brain behind Goddess Lalita.
To simply put she is the intelligence of Lalita Devi.
She is the strategist, highly powerful and magnificent. Her power is not easily comprehendable by many who merely want her attributes.
Her charm is inescapable and no one can escape her gravity except Varahi. While Śyamala is inclusion Varahi is repulsion.
She is the ākarsana śakti of Lalita devi and she also is refered as Kundalini sakti. She resides at hridaya sthana i.e anāhata cakra as yogini called Rākini.
She is depicted with a sword and a skull representing that she grants higher intelligence by cutting off the ego.
She is akin Saraswati. The śaktis are similar with some differences.
Ideally and practically it is advised to first do sadhana of Śyamala Devi before reaching for Lalitha devi.
Śyamala Devi resonates in Vykhari because she is the Goddess for communication, speech, skills etc. But everyone agree that Śyamala rules Anahata cakra. Madhyama state resonates at Anahata cakra. This is also universally accepted.
So she rules at Anahata in Madhyma state but also an aspect of her reaches Vykhari as Goddess Vagvādini.
