Tarpanam (or Tharpanam) is a Sanskrit term meaning “satisfying,” “satiating,” or “nourishment”. It is a Vedic ritual involving water offerings mixed with black sesame seeds, barley, and rice to honor and appease gods (Devas).
Tarpanas are typically performed to remove obstacles, ensure success, and gain health, wealth, and spiritual growth. It involves chanting the Moola Mantram while pouring water, often through idol/Yantram/turmeric pyramid representing the deity.
Significance: It is believed to bring Ayuh (longevity), Arogyam (health), Aishwaryam (wealth), and Moksha (liberation).
